GOVERNMENT GIRLS' P.G. COLLEGE, GHAZIPUR

The Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), Prayagraj, is the single state open university of Uttar Pradesh, like IGNOU at national level. It was established under the Act No. 10/1999 passed by U. P. Legislature and assented by the Governor of U.P. on March 24, 1999. It is named after Bharat Ratna, Rajarshi Purusottam Das Tandon ji, a famous freedom fighter and renowned Hindi promoter in India. The University has been built to make higher education accessible and affordable to everyone; to access higher education for large segments of population and, in particular, disadvantaged groups such as those living in remote and rural areas including working people, homemakers and other adults who wish to upgrade or acquire knowledge through studies.

The motto of this university is  SABKO SHIKKSHA SABKO GYAN – ( provide education and knowledge to all) and  CHHATRA  JAHAN , HUM VAHAN  ( where is the student there is the teacher). The Open and Distance Learning (ODL) is contributing a lot in expansion of higher education in country and for achieving target of Gross Enrollment Ratio.

The University has setup its administrative campus in Phaphamau, Prayagraj (U.P.) with working scope as whole state of UP. 12 regional centers are formed for better facilitation of study centers. This study center at Government Girls’ P.G. College, Ghazipur, comes under Varanasi Regional Center situated at Baudh Bhawan, Mahata Gadhi Ksahi Vidyapeet, Varansi-221002.

UPRTOU, Prayagraj has more than thousands of study centers, at different colleges/ institutes in Utter Pradesh. All the courses of this university are recognized by relevant government authorities. Education is student centric, flexible, credit based, transferable and many more in favor of students. Study and Learning Material (SLM) in hard (books) and soft form are provided by university. Online and off line counseling classes are also available to students. Courses are based on annual or semester examination system. Admission in various courses/programmes are available in July & January session whole year. Examination is conducted in end of year/session (December and June).

STUDY CENTER (S-088)

This study center at Government Girls’ P. G. College, Ghazipur, (S088) was setup in year 2005, which was a great initiative for the Learners of the district specially women and working people. Dr K K Tiwari was the first Coordinator of the center till May, 2016. At present, center is marching ahead in the supervision of Dr Shiv Kumar (Coordinator) of the Department of Psychology since July 2018. With the support and guidance of Principal Prof Savita Bhardwaj and effort of current Coordinator, study center has been granted permission for more than 90 courses/ programmes except B.Ed., MBA, MCA, and Commerce courses/programmes. The study center has its separate spacious room and necessary infrastructure from the beginning. Anyone can contact study center between 1.00 P.M. - 4.00 P.M. on working days of the college. After admission, all students of the center remain connected through Whatsapp group 24X7.  Every relevant information is sent in the Whatsapp group and all queries are addressed immediately. The work and work culture of study center has been appreciated by both the authorities and the students.
