It is universally accepted that beauty is the creator of happiness and illustration presents this beauty in real form. Hence the utility of this subject is self-evident. The drawing and painting department of the college has proved to be extremely successful in increasing the number of girl students in the college and enhancing the beauty of the college. This subject especially attracts the girl students and contributes significantly in enhancing their artistic talent. The Department of Drawing and Painting came into existence in 1979.

Courses

B.A. - Drawing & Painting

The Department runs B.A. programme in Drawing and Painting. The program is designed to sharpen artistic, intellectual and creative sensibilities. Students are groomed to become professional practicing artist / painters. The dept. has an art gallery to display paintings and to organize painting exhibitions. The department regularly organizes annual painting exhibition of the work done by BA students. The department also organizes Departmental as well as District level competitions regularly. The department has a stock of old paintings and prints of the paintings of the famous artists. Time to time, the department also organizes lectures, demonstration programs from the external experts of the various fields like landscape painting, portrait painting, creative compositions, abstract painting etc.

Department of Music (Vocal)

About

The Department of Music offers undergraduate courses since 2006. Ph.D. programme was started in the year 2017 and currently, 04 research scholars are doing research in different fields of Music

Courses

B.A. in Music (Vocal) : This course provides the basic ideas and concepts of Music Vocal, through this programme students will get knowledge about Indian Classical music. The course intends to orient the learner with the approaches to the discipline of Music Vocal. Through this course, the students will get to know the different Ragas, Taals, basic science of Indian Music, notation system of Indian and Western Music, History of Indian Music, origin and development of Gharana tradition, study of regional music, styles of Ravindra Sangeet and carnatic Sangeet along with the biographies of some distinguish artist and scholars of Indian Music. Students will also get acquainted with the musical stage performance.

Through its curriculum, students will get acquainted with the authentic aspects of historical facts and gain knowledge of the glory of Indian Music. Students will be motivated to contribute towards nation building by making them aware of the Indian music and culture. This course will provide a medium for students to develop an attitude of research. This curriculum will not only provide a bridge of performance ability to the students but also provide them with employment opportunities.
